Question by gonbananaz8894@aim.com

I am not sure how I feel about this topic. I have a question that I hope someone answers for me. Because gays/lesbians cannot reproduce, why should they be able to get married just as couples who can reproduce? Just a concern of mine

I believe that everyone should be allowed to marry who they want. Love is love no matter what and the Catholic Church needs to recognize that.

Same sex marriage should be allowed because it allows equality for all people, which is what America promotes.

Question: Do you think same sex marriages has a place in the law, church, and society?

Same sex marriage

Marriage has a place in the church, law, and society. The Catholic church condemns same sex marriage, yet says that a homosexual person deserves respect. The church states that the importance of marriage for children and the society is under attack in America. Strictly believing that marriage is supposed to be between just a man and woman, the church and society have different views on the controversial topic. Society is much more accepting of same sex marriage than the church may be. Although, different people have different views on it. Some believe marriage is when two people love each other so why can’t two men or two women who love each other get married? The next part of this situation lies within the law. Now, in some states it is legal for same sex marriage while in others it is not. Many argue that they have done nothing wrong or harmed anyone, so why can’t they get married in their home state where all their family and friends are? People argue that the state rules are unjust. The topic of same sex marriage is very controversial due to all of these different views and positions.

Pope Benedict states that homosexuality is not necissarily a sin but a “tendency toward an intrinsic moral evil, and thus the inclination itself must be seen as an objective disorder.
